A video that joins my mother’s hands with my hands. This video was made with archival footage from the Museum of Memory Against Impunity. In the video, my mother and I are narrating the murder of my uncle Vicente by paramilitaries sponsored by the Nicaraguan government.

I use the footage of our hands and transpose the images to get closer to her and symbolically touch her hands. The audio I overlaid was from her funeral, where she was accompanied by the traditional Güegüense dance, of which she was Mayordoma for 16 years, and it is a legacy we continue as a family.

Video que junta las manos de mi mamá con mis manos. Este video fue realizado con material de archivo del Museo de la Memoria contra la Impunidad. En el video mi mamá y yo estamos narrando el asesinato de mi tío Vicente por paramilitares promovidos por el gobierno de Nicaragua. 

Utilizo el footage de nuestras manos y transpongo las imágenes para acercarme a ella y tocar sus manos de manera simbólica. El audio que sobrepuse fue de su entierro, en el cual ella fue acompañada por el baile tradicional el Güegüense, del que fue Mayordoma por 16 años y es un legado que continuamos como familia.
